There's More to Mindanao than What's in the News

Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about this region that can discourage people from visiting. But we're here to set the record straight and show you the true reality of Mindanao.

One of the most common misconceptions is that Mindanao is unsafe. While it's true that there have been instances of violence and conflict in the past, the majority of the region is safe for travelers. It's important to check for travel advisories and exercise caution when visiting any destination, but it's not accurate to say that all of Mindanao is unsafe.

Another misconception is that Mindanao is a poor region. While there are certainly areas of poverty, the region is home to a diverse economy and many thriving communities. There are also many successful businesses and individuals throughout the region.

Many people believe that Mindanao is only a conflict-zone, but this couldn't be further from the truth. The region is also home to many peaceful and prosperous communities, rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and a thriving tourism industry.

Lastly, some people think that Mindanao is not developed. But, in reality, Mindanao has a diverse and rich culture, diverse geography and resources, and a rapidly developing economy. The region is home to many modern cities, tourist destinations, and world-class facilities.

Don't let misconceptions hold you back from experiencing the beauty and diversity of Mindanao. Plan your next adventure and discover the true reality of this amazing region.

So, don't put it off any longer; plan your next adventure in Mindanao and explore the natural beauty of our own backyard while supporting our local economy and communities.

There's an undiscovered paradise further down south of Sarangani Province in Brgy. Batulaki, Glan, Sarangani Province. I have visited it recently and fell in love with it the moment I caught a first glimpse of it. We went to Tinaca Point, where the Philippine Navy Littoral Monitoring Station is located. There stands an old lighthouse and it showed us a great view of Celebes Sea, the coastline of Southern Sarangani, and of Balut Island in Davao Occidental. GETTING THERE From Poblacion Glan, we took a government vehicle to Barangay Batulaki, the last barangay of the Municipality of Glan. It took about about an hour and a half of road trip in order to get there. For those who wish to visit the place, coordination with municipal tourism office is advised. You must also communicate with the Punong Barangay (Chairman). The long stretch of beach grayish in Batulaki is a beauty in itself. From there you can see Balut Island, which is part of  the Municipality of Sarangani in Da
